(Author’s Note: I am celebrating a milestone birthday recovering from spinal surgery and, frankly, am in no mood to write anything. If you want to throw me a “pity party,” please feel free to do so! With that said, I am posting a blog from a year ago which is still relevant to today.)
Even as we snicker, the answer to this question seems obvious: toned skin, perky breasts and receptive vaginas.
It has been recently reported that Don McLean, singer (“Bye, Bye Miss American Pie“), and Jon Hamm, dark lothario of “Mad Men,” are dating much younger women. In McLean’s case, the young lady is a dewy 27 years of age and, in Hamm’s case, she’s 32. McLean could be his lady friend’s grandfather and Hamm could be the very young father of his current love interest. And then, there’s Alec Baldwin, 62 and known for his fisticuffs, and wife, Hilaria.….. well enough said.
What never makes the news on these May-December romances is that the older men don’t have to deal with issues of menopause in their young paramours. No night sweats, drenched sheets, migraines, vaginal atrophy (whoa, there goes sexual intercourse), hot flashes, sleeplessness, mood changes, or weight gain (not a good look when prancing around on the arm of a male celebrity).
So, here’s a big, heartfelt “THANK YOU” to those husbands and significant others who value their older women. Though menopause is a rocky road for us, we know it’s not always an easy road for you!
